๐คฆ๐ผ♀️ Pressuring Women into Shaving their Body Hair Makes NO Sense ๐คฆ๐ผ♀️
Howdy yall, I've had a little something on my mind and just wanted to write a little somthin on it. It makes absolutely NO sense for there to be societal pressure on women to shave their body hair. And to be clear, if you wanna shave your body hair thats cool, do whatever you want its your body. My issue is specifically with the societal pressure to conform to a made up standard without even knowing why we're doing it.
As soon as my leg hair started growing I was taught to shave it off. But no one ever told me why, or why this is something only women do. Why are we just following along to these weird trends without ever interrogating its premise? Let's question shit a bit more shall we? Because now that I am older and wiser, shaving off your body hair makes absolutely no sense.
Societal pressure can go ahead and fuck right off.
We have eyelashes, nose hair, ear hair, and pubic hair to protect from harmful bacteria. Our body hair is there for the same purpose. Your pubic hair is there to stop dirt, oil, and bacteria from entering your vag. You need your pubic hair. People who shave their pubic hair regularly are more at risk for getting UTIs, vaginitis, yeast infections, folliculitis, boils, abscesses, HPV, herpes, syphilis, and HIV. You go through puberty for a REASON. You have your body hair for a REASON. Why was I never taught that and only to just shave it off? That's a little fucked up if you ask me.
Back in the day women didn't give a fffuuuuuuuuuuck about their body hair. It wasn't until about 1915 that women's underarms were targeted by razor companies and current fashion trends. Then in the 20s women's legs were the target by razor companies. Then a razor company in the 50's starting coming up with a ton of BULLSHIT about shaving in order to profit. We were tricked into shaving our body hair (and putting our bodies at more risk for illness) because of capitalism. Some companies just wanted more money so now you have to shave your body hair and buy their products. ???? That makes no fucking sense.
These companies also made claims that women having body hair is "unnatural." That's weird, then why does it grow there naturally?
The idea of body hair being "unhygienic" is a myth that is left over from the days when people didn't regularly bathe and pubic lice was a huge problem. We obviously don't have that problem today. Also, if having your body hair was really that "unhygienic" then why is it never said to men? This is only said to women. Are all of the men who don't shave their legs or armpits unclean? Of course not, so why would the women be? And if you really thought that having hair is that "unhygienic" then you might as well shave your head, eyelashes, and eyebrows.
Also why do men expect women to be hairless? Were you expecting a child? Adult humans have body hair, it's a sign of adulthood. Why do people find hairless prepubescent-looking bodies sexually attractive? It's fucking sick. Only ADULTS have pubic hair and you know who doesn't? Children. Normalizing hairless vags is normalizing pedophile behavior and pedophile desire.
Did you know Cleopatra was known for her long, luxurious, pubic hair? She used to keep her pubic hair brushed and oiled. Wayyyy back in the day rich people were the only people who were allowed to not shave their pubic hair. Cleopatra was flexing that she didn't have any lice and could afford to keep her hair. Just sayin.
Are you a woman that has body hair? And have you ever been asked, how does your boyfriend feel about you not shaving? Has anyone ever asked you how you feel about your boyfriend not shaving? This is some fucked up societal double standards. Shaving doesn't mean that you're "more hygienic," its a personal preference. Hair actually keeps you cleaner.
Let people live. Why is choosing to keep your body hair controversial? I don't get why everyone has to control other people's actions that don't effect them. Im tired of these double standards and the pressure placed on women constantly that has no merit. Do shit for YOU. Stop letting other people control what you do. Get your shit together sis, we're focusing on our-fuckin-selves from now on.

๐6 Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Beauty Brands ๐ฑ
If you're going down the path of trying to be as sustainable and minimalistic as possible, you may have noticed that there is a serious lack in sustainable makeup out there. That trend however, is changing with more and more people becoming conscious consumers with a strong focus in sustainability creating a larger market for eco-friendly beauty brands. The thing is, most sustainable makeup brands aren't widely available in local stores and/or consumers may not be aware of that these companies exist in the first place. The fact is, not that many people can name even 3 sustainable beauty brands. This is something I would like to change. Making this type of information more widely available will hopefully help shift buyers into putting their money into more sustainable businesses.
...and more sustainable businesses = a healthier planet - (and it puts pressure on larger companies to implement more sustainable business practices thus helping the planet even more)
- Lush Cosmetics
- This is probably the brand you think of when it comes to sustainable beauty products and while I do wanna focus on lesser-known eco-friendly brands, I couldn't just pass up Lush Cosmetics. They have almost every beauty product you could want and it's in sustainable packaging. From foundation to shampoo bars they have everything you need.
- I personally cannot live without their Toner "Breath of Fresh Air" it feels sooooo good and refreshing especially on hot days. (#notspons but I wish it was ๐๐)
- Native
- Again probably a more popular sustainable beauty brand but I had to include them because they just switched to completely plastic free for all of their deodorants!
- They also have beauty supplies such as body wash, toothpaste, and bar soap. They are most widely known for their deodorants and are cruelty free and use clean ingredients.
- Native is also a partner for 1% for the planet. This means that 1% percent of their products gives back to environmental non profits so you're also doing a little bit of giving back when you use Native Deoderant.
- Bรฉsame Cosmetics
- Bรฉsame is a fairly new company on my radar. They are committed to sustainable practices and safe ingredients. They offer a variety of refillable and low waste products including (my favorite) refillable mascara that comes in a tin. I dunno about yall but finding a zero waste alternative to mascara has been incredibly difficult and Bรฉsame Cosmetics is one of the only eco-friendly beauty brands that Im aware of that offers it.
- Every Bรฉsame product is gluten, paraben, mineral-oil, phthalates, formaldehyde, and cruelty-free.
- The Humble Co.
- Founded in 2013 by dentist Noel Abdayem, The Humble Co is a Swedish company that sells personal care products with the environment in mind. All designed by dentists and with an eco-friendly design they sell bamboo toothbrushes, natural chewing gum, toothpaste, cotton swabs, and dentil floss.
- Wicked Soaps Co.
- Wicked Soaps Co. is a small, woman-owned, skincare company. I have personally used many of their products on my sensitive-ass skin and can STRONGLY recommend their Hyaluronic Moon Paste. This shit works soooo well, I can go to bed with acne and wake up with GLOWING skin. I cannot recommend enough.
- Their products are all hand-made in small batches in reusable packaging. Not to mention they have clean, locally sourced ingredients.
- Their products range from lip balm, to lotions, to salt scrubs.
- Elate Beauty
- Elate beauty is a Vegan and cruelty free cosmetics company. They offer, eye shadow pallets, lipsticks, face powder, foundation, beauty tools, etc. Everything you need to BEAT your face to the Gods. Along with a strong focus on ethics and global impact, they really care about the earth and the people on it.
These are just pics from the sky tonight :) okay byeeeee

๐ ๐ผFor the LOVE of GOD STOP using Instagram (& Facebook) ๐ ๐ผ
Instagram is trying to be the worst app possible, and they're winning.
About 5 years ago our economy became data driven. In America this means that you no longer have any real privacy whenever you access the internet.
Instagram recently updated their terms of use. This new TOU basically gives them free reign to do whatever they want. They can check your call logs, go through your contact list, and use your cameras (which they refer to as their cameras btw) and your messages. These are extremely loosely defined terms in a terms of service. They can lock your account if your username sounds like anything like a domain name - which is a far reaching clause that can impact almost anyone if your username sounds like a name of a website.
When you use Instagram you acknowledge that you can never sue them and that they can do whatever they want with your pictures.
Instagram and Facebook have been data mining people for years. They record and track your personal information, then use and sell that personal information to third parties without your knowledge or consent. Basically they're data mining your information, to sell that information, to give you better ads, to sell you shit, (and manipulate you), but also at the same time they're getting rid of likes to "promote mental health" ??? Like Instagram gives a fuck.
So if you run a photography page on Insta you no longer have exclusive rights to those images. Instagram now has the same rights as you and can sell it without notifying you, or compensating you.
Also Instagram stores your photos after its deleted (just like Facebook), for up to 6 months. Instagram is great for offering your content exposure but it comes at a price.
So what can you do about this?
- Delete your account. When you delete your account with Instagram, the license you give Instagram will end. (and you now have exclusive rights to your work again).
- If you don't wanna delete your account you can, Opt out of Arbitration and preserve your right to a jury trial if you ever wanted to sue Instagram.
- Revoke Instagram's access to your microphone and camera.
- Instagram has admitted to hiring hundreds of people to listen to recordings they have, AND back in September, Bloomberg reported that Facebook Inc. was being sued for allegedly spying on Instagram users by accessing the cameras on mobile phones. Facebook claimed that that this was a bug that made it seem like the camera was on "when it wasn't." ๐What's clear is that when you give Instagram access to your camera they don’t just have access to what you record and post, but also whatever your camera is seeing.
- Artists, Put Watermarks on all of your Work that you post to Instagram.
- This will make it harder for them to try and resell your work to a third party.
- Log Off while you're not using it.
- When you leave FB or Instagram logged in it's running the background and tracking your data.
- Turn Off Background App Refresh. This will turn off the apps "running in the background." Turning this off will also help save battery life and data.
- Turn Off Your Location
- Turn Off Activity Status on Facebook on Instagram
- Go to Settings>Privacy and Security>Activity Status
- Control Who Can See Your Content
- There are a lot of privacy settings you should go through and become familiar with so you can control who is seeing what you post
- Do NOT use Messenger - or What's App to send messages
- Facebook has hired several hundred people to LISTEN to Messenger recordings. Signal is a good replacement for both Messenger and What's App. Your information and messages are encrypted.
