🌐Cool Science Things, Aliens, and Theoretical Technologies🌐

Hello, my name is Katie and I’m fascinated by all things Aliens, Space, Ghosts, Theoretical Technologies, and Conspiracy theories. The past few months I’ve been keeping notes on the weird science things that I’ve learned about and wanted to share a few with you.

I plan on writing full articles on quite a few of the things on this list as they fascinate me so much, however when I sat down to start writing an article about just one thing I found that I just really really really wanna share everything I have so far because they’re so fascinating and honestly people need to hear about them now! So without further ado, here is a list of all the cool and fascinating things I discovered that felt they were worthy of writing down.

The Fermi Paradox:

  • named after Italian-American physicist Enrico Fermi, is the apparent contradiction between the lack of evidence for extraterrestrial civilizations and various high estimates for their probability (such as some optimistic estimates for the Drake equation).
  • The Fermi Paradox can likely be explained by something far more complex than distance and but rather - perception. “Maybe we are not alone and have not been. The click beetles in my backyard don’t notice that they are surrounded by intelligent beings - namely my neighbors and me but we are here nonetheless.”
Aliens are God Theory:
  • The ghosts and spirits we feel are actually aliens
  • Everything spiritual or religious is actually aliens
Panspermia:
  • is the hypothesis that life exists throughout the Universe, distributed by space dust, meteoroids, asteroids, comets, planetoids, and also by spacecraft carrying unintended contamination by microorganisms.
  • Panspermia hypothesis propose (for example) that microscopic life-forms that can survive the effects of space (such as extremophiles) can become trapped in debris ejected into space after collisions between planets and small Solar System bodies that harbor life.
Directed Panspermia:
  • The Theory that aliens planted life on earth (this is depicted in the movie Prometheus, you can watch the 2 minute clip here).
Xenoanthropology:
  • The Study of extraterrestrial culture
The Hedonic Treadmill:
  • Also known as hedonic adaption, it is the observed tendency of humans to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes.
The Aurora Effect:
  • When settlers arrive at a habitable planet only to find that they nonetheless cannot survive.
The Dyson Sphere:
  • A hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures a large percentage of its power output. The concept is a thought experiment that attempts to explain how a spacefaring civilization would meet its energy requirements once those requirements exceed what can be generated from the home planet's resources alone.
Random Category:
  • Societies that are fast-growing die out just as quickly
  • Humans suffer from the overconfidence effect - a common error of probabilistic reasoning about low-probability events
  • Our sun has gone around the star Sagittarius A* (the star at the center of our galaxy) 50 times since its creation.
  • Late-onset menstruation is more common in longer-lived women, suggesting it helps delay death.
  • Obesity, stress and depression are all conditions caused largely by modern lifestyle and environment
  • Capitalism lacks the attention span required for survival.
  • There are planets out there that might have red foliage because of the light waves that their star emits.
  • Transit technique is a planet finding technique, when planets pass in front of their stars the light dims slightly - this allows to tell the distance between planet and star.
  • The “Goldilocks zone” is the Earth-like habitable zone (distance from star).
  • The speed of falling objects is proportional to their density not their weight.
Leave a comment and let me know of some cool science/metaphysical facts yall know. I am more than excited to read some.

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.”
